Our doctors are experts in cataract surgery.

What are cataracts?

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s crystalline lens. Cataracts are a natural and normal effect of aging—and the likelihood you will develop them increases with age. Surgery to remove a cataract and replace the natural lens with an artificial one is the only way to treat this condition.

This outpatient procedure, performed under topical anesthetic, has a success rate above 95 percent. Dr. Brass or Dr. Roth will perform your pre-operative exam, surgery and post-op checkups until you can return to ongoing care with one of our optometrists.

The technology we use

Catalys Bladeless Surgery

This system uses lasers to perform precise, less invasive, surgeries. Catalys allows us to soften cataracts, which makes them easier to remove.

Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implants

Standard IOLs correct vision either close up or at a distance, meaning that you need to were glasses in other conditions. Newer lens options offer multifocal vision improvement as well as astigmatism correction, which can eliminate the need for glasses after cataract surgery.

Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA)

The ORA system gives your surgeon the ability to correct your prescription in real time during your procedure, rather than waiting weeks to see your results.
