Dr. Brass also specializes in laser eye surgery such as LASIK and Advanced Surface Ablation for vision correction. Finally, Dr. Brass specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, problems and conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, as well as providing eye health exams for eyeglasses and contact lenses

Dr. Brass was the first cataract surgeon in the Capital District to be certified to use the Catalyst Femtosecond Laser for Cataract Surgery, and to date has done the most cases locally.  In addition he utilizes the ORA Analysis system which is especially beneficial for post Lasik patients, who need Cataract Surgery.  Each patient is assessed during the pre-operative period using your medical and surgical history, vision needs and eye health assessment, to determine and recommend what is best for you.  Providing each patient with their best possible vision is the goal.  Dr. Brass’s surgical outcomes surpass the national average. Dr. Brass trains resident ophthalmologists from the Albany Medical Center Residency Program in cataract surgery as well.

Dr. Brass is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons.
